Sport in Cologne
in Cologne we love our soccer team as well as our ice hockey team and we also have the biggest sport university in Germany. So sport is a very important aspect in the city.
Kölner Haie (Sharks of Cologne)
Our ice hockey team exists already over 40 years and in 2017 the city hosted the ice hockey world cup. Most of the games take place in the famous LanXessarena.
1. FC Köln
Our soccer team plays in the first German soccer league and the games in Cologne take place in the big RheinEnergieStadium in Junkersdorf. The team was already three times in the past German soccer champion (in 1962, 1964 and in 1978). Our mascot is a goat which is named Hennes and he is always at the stadium on game days. On all the other days you can visit him in the zoo of cologne.

The home stadium of the 1. FC Kölns offers a total of up to 50,000 spectators and is actually much more than just a stadium. It can also be rented as an event location and regular evening tours through the stadium take place in floodlight.
